There Are Many Ways to Mother (And Only One Get Talked About)

We talk about motherhood as if it arrives one way, at one time, in one body.
As if it only begins in a delivery room.
As if it only counts once a baby is placed in your arms.
As if every woman’s story is meant to follow the same script.
But that has never been true.
Mothering is not just something you become.
It’s something you practice.
Every day.
Some women mother children.
Some women mother dreams.
Some women mother homes, communities, friendships, ideas, healing, businesses, prayers.
Some women mother themselves - because no one else ever showed them how.
And yet… only one version gets celebrated.
Only one version gets centered.
Only one version gets honored out loud.
The rest are lived quietly.
Unseen.
Unnamed.
Sometimes even doubted by the women carrying them.

But here’s the truth we don’t say often enough:
If you know how to care, to hold, to protect, to nurture, to return to love - you are mothering.
You mother when you:
• Show up with patience where impatience would be easier
• Choose gentleness in a world that rewards hardness
• Create safety - for yourself or for others
• Stay with something through its growing pains
• Pour life into what could easily be abandoned
Motherhood is not a title.
It’s a posture.
And no - you haven’t missed your moment.
You haven’t failed some invisible timeline.
You haven’t arrived “too early” or “too late.”
You are not behind.
You are becoming, in the way your life requires.
At ZenMomTribe, we hold space for every version of this becoming.
The loud ones.
The quiet ones.
The ones that don’t fit neatly into conversation.
Because there are many ways to mother.
And every one of them deserves to be seen.
With love,
Tai 🤍
