You Are Holding More Than Anyone Can See

I was sitting with my children one evening, and everything looked fine. The room was calm, we were together.
But inside, something felt heavy.
I had just received news about something I deeply wanted… something I had quietly worked towards and hoped for.
And it didn’t happen.
There’s a kind of disappointment that doesn’t make noise. It just sits with you, waiting to be felt.
I could feel it rising, but I didn’t want them to see it. So I stayed present in body, while my mind moved through questions I didn’t yet have answers to.
And then, I thought of my father…
The times he went quiet. The moments he felt distant. The parts of him I didn’t understand as a child.

I used to think something was wrong. Now I see it differently.
He wasn’t distant. He was carrying something… pressures, expectations, disappointments that had nowhere to go.
I understand that space now. Showing up for your children while quietly holding yourself.
And in that moment, something shifted.
Not sadness, but understanding. Compassion for who he was and for who I am in this season.
Because the truth is, your children don’t see everything you carry.
They feel your presence. They notice your energy.
But they don’t see the quiet strength it takes to hold it all together.
Maybe that’s part of motherhood…holding space for them, while learning to hold space for yourself too.
Nothing changed that evening on the outside.
But inside, something softened.
I didn’t need them to understand everything I was carrying. I just needed to be with them and offer myself the same grace.
If you’re holding something quietly right now, you don’t have to rush to resolve it.
Just stay with yourself the same way you stay for everyone else.
With you,
